We had our first private chat last night...great fun to be commenting in a live forum with everyone!
Here are the results of our discussion:
1. Blog Name: Voting on poll on home page until MN tonight; we took suggestions up until the live chat last night for a name (couldn't set poll voting to top 3 everyone like we originally decided so I did next best thing.)
Purpose: Divergent and slight irreverent crew discussing the artistry of David honestly and respectfully.
Target Audience: nDers - anyone who has the same purpose stated above.
2. Rules of Conduct: We will use Rascal's rules which Marlie7 will post; David's private life is off limits for discussion unless he discusses something publicly; we can critique the idea but never the person.
Blogging Contributors: Have set up many nD regulars as authors. If you are nD regular, you can get permission to contribute or send contribution to Post Committee (davidfanLIZ, TOfan, Freo, Peru, Angelica, happy) who will get your post into posting schedule; posting schedule will be set by Post Committee; 2x per week was thought to be a general standard; links and discussion of daily events will occur in the comments of the post as was done in nD.
Commenters: Just need to sign in to comment; comments will be reviewed by Moderators periodically (need to set up Moderator Team) and those that are spamming,are flagrantly disrespectful of our purpose, or intentionally violate the Rules of Conduct will be deleted.
3. Public vs. Private: The blog will be public.
4. Blog Platform: Not discussed, however, it may be switched to another platform pending review of features of this Google platform.
5. Features: Will post 2x per week, in general. Discussions, daily events and links will be posted in Comments as was done in nD. Will set up a blog email account today and post on home page. Email will require reviewers and need to discuss who to review and if you are interested in participating in this functionality.
6. Minimum/Maximum number of Posts per what time period: Already addressed above.
7. Blogger's Rights: Regular nDers can seek blogger's rights; or anyone can send posts to Post Committee for publishing.
8. Blog Maintenance Team: TOfan, Marlie7, Dawn65, brooklyndawn, and refnaf are going to serve as the Blog Maintenance team and will work with formatting and gadgets as needed.
9. Moderators: As above. Please discuss the moderator role in comments and indicate in comments if you are interested.
10. How to handle disputes: We had a variety of recommendations that were quite colorful and imaginative....haha. The moderators (yet to be formed) will handle disputes according to our purpose. This will be an evolving functionality--a work in progress.
Other: We decided to have a private chat 2 times a month and some chats at times for our fans in differing time zones. So next one will be around the beginning of March. We will search for a more user friendly live chat application (any suggestions?).
Final Thoughts:
Please, please, please comment on this organizational discussion and this initial setting of ground rules. This is YOUR blog and a consensus driven initiative. For those of you who were on the chat, let me know (I know you will) if I missed something or misstated something.
We will continue discussions of organization and rules via comments and periodic posts until we have settled the known and we can deal with unanticipated events as they crop up through our discussions and dialogue.
NOTE: I'll take the comments and discussions from this post and summarize in a later post as we evolve the blog together. We can always vote if we have divergent opinions for a majority consensus.
